Description
NextPower is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and integration of complex mechanical systems for autonomous robotic platforms.
The role focuses on ruggedized structures, propulsion systems, and dynamic mechanisms, operating in demanding field environments.
You will own mechanical development from system requirements and concept design through prototyping, testing, and transition to production, working closely with multidisciplinary R&D teams to deliver reliable, field-ready systems.
Requirements
- B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (M.Sc. an advantage)
- Extensive experience in the design of complex mechanical systems and mechanisms
- Strong background in system-level mechanical design, including propulsion, motion systems, and rotating or adjustable assemblies
- Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and engineering analysis tools (FEA/CAE; CFD an advantage)
- Experience leading mechanical development from concept through production, including DFM considerations
- Proven ability to integrate mechanical systems with electrical, control, and electronic subsystems
- Experience producing complete engineering documentation (drawings, BOMs, specifications)
Advantages
- Experience with ruggedized systems for industrial, outdoor, or defense-related applications
- Familiarity with dynamic platforms, turret systems, or similar mechanisms
- Knowledge of relevant industry or military standards
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes, assembly, and field testing
- Experience supporting reliability, availability, and maintainability improvements
This role is well suited for engineers who enjoy system-level ownership, mechanical complexity, and building robust platforms for real-world robotic applications.
