In this position you’ll help us drive a major transformation from a long‑standing monolith to a modern, cloud‑native microservices architecture. Owning features E2E across backend, frontend, and production operations. The role requires designing scalable distributed systems, leading migrations across languages and frameworks, and ensuring reliability through observability, debugging, and resilient infrastructure. You’ll balance backend engineering with ~30% React work while leveraging AI development tools to accelerate delivery, refactoring, and architectural decision‑making.
Responsibilities:
Own features E2E: scope, design, implement, test, ship, and support in production.
Design and build backend services in C#/.NET, Java, and/or Node.js, including APIs, integrations, and data flows.
Deliver production React frontend features
Build cloudnative systems: microservices running in containers (Docker), interservice communication, and horizontal scaling.
Create wellreasoned architectures: from monolith to microservices decomposition to cloud architecture decisions that balance reliability, performance, and cost.
Lead migrations across languages/frameworks when needed, including refactors and strangler patterns.
Instrument and operate services with observability (logs, metrics, traces), debugging in distributed environments, and a focus on resilience and performance.
Collaborate in Agile with Product, Design, and peers: break work into tasks, estimate, demo, and iterate (Scrum ceremonies).
Use AI in development (required): leverage in IDE tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, AI agents) for code generation, refactoring, tests, and architectural scaffolding to accelerate delivery and quality.
Contribute to code reviews, testing strategy, CI/CD, and engineering best practices.
Requirements:
5+ years of backend software engineering in C#/Node.js/Java
Proven cloudproduct experience: microservices, containers, interservice communication, autoscaling, and operating in production.
React experience delivering frontend features
Strong grasp of cloud architecture, Docker, scaling, observability, and debugging distributed systems.
Practical understanding of monolith vs. microservices, when to apply each, and how to migrate.
AI dev tools experience
Agile mindset: requirements discovery, task breakdown, estimation, and iterative delivery; confident partnering with Product.
