The Production Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of manufacturing and assembly activities for loitering munition systems, with full ownership of production processes executed by subcontractors. The role ensures compliance with quality standards, delivery schedules, cost targets, and defense regulatory requirements.
This position combines operational leadership, hands-on production oversight, subcontractor management, and close collaboration with engineering and quality teams in a dynamic and security-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee all manufacturing and assembly processes performed by two subcontractors
Manage daily interfaces with subcontractors, including planning, coordination, performance control, and continuous improvement
Define work instructions (WI), production processes, control points, and KPIs
Ensure on-time delivery, quality compliance, and output targets
Execute production plans received from Planning (PPC) and translate them into actionable manufacturing activities
Balance workload between subcontractors and optimize work allocation
Monitor production progress, identify bottlenecks, and resolve deviations
Work closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, and Quality
Ensure implementation of quality procedures, defense standards, and regulatory requirements
Lead failure investigations and implement corrective actions
Prepare production for customer audits, internal audits, and regulatory inspections
Collaborate closely with the Quality Manager
Lead DFM/DFA processes with Engineering
Support NPI (New Product Introduction) and transition from development to production
Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing, assembly, testing, and debugging processes
Initiate cost reduction, assembly time optimization, and reliability improvement initiatives
Provide ongoing reporting to management on production status, risks, and performance metrics
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electronics significant advantage
Practical Engineer with proven defense manufacturing experience acceptable
5+ years of experience in Production / Operations / Subcontractor Management
Proven experience working with subcontractors mandatory
Experience in defense, aerospace, or electro-mechanical environments strong advantage
Experience with complex systems, integration, and delicate assemblies
Familiarity with quality processes, audits, and defense regulations
