Command & Control Systems

A fast-growing defense technology startup on an incredible growth trajectory is looking for an experienced Full Stack Developer to join the team building a complex command and control system for airborne tactical systems.
The platform combines a Python-based microservices backend, algorithm-intensive processing and decision-making logic, and a modern Angular frontend presenting maps, sensor data, and complex operational workflows.
You will take ownership of capabilities across the stack, connecting operational needs with software design and implementation. The role calls for strong systems thinking: understanding how services, algorithms, data, and user interactions work together, and making thoughtful technology choices based on their impact on the overall system.
Responsibilities:
• Design and develop end-to-end capabilities across Python backend services and a modern Angular frontend.
• Build and evolve microservices, APIs, and data flows that support complex processing and decision-making workflows.
• Work closely with algorithm engineers to integrate algorithmic capabilities into reliable software services.
• Develop rich, responsive interfaces for maps, sensor information, and operational situational awareness.
• Contribute to architecture and technology decisions, evaluating trade-offs in performance, reliability, complexity, maintainability, and integration.
• Investigate and resolve issues across service boundaries, tracing behavior from backend processing through to the user interface.
• Collaborate with system engineers, product and UX teams, and other developers to translate system requirements into robust, testable solutions.
• Take ownership of software quality through design reviews, code reviews, testing, and system integration.
Requirements:
• Substantial hands-on experience developing and delivering complex software systems, including full stack development.
• Strong backend development experience in Python and frontend experience with modern Angular and TypeScript.
• Experience designing and developing microservices, APIs, and distributed software systems.
• Proven ability to understand system architecture, dependencies, and data flows, and assess how a local design decision affects the wider system.
• Experience working with multiple technologies and the ability to evaluate their suitability, limitations, and long-term implications.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including modular design, testing, debugging, and maintainable code.
• Ability to break down ambiguous problems, identify constraints, and drive solutions independently.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to communicate technical reasoning and trade-offs clearly.
Advantages:
• Experience developing command and control systems, airborne systems, or other complex operational platforms.
• Experience with map-based applications, geospatial visualization, or sensor-data interfaces.
• Experience integrating algorithms into production software.
• Familiarity with asynchronous processing, event-driven architectures, and messaging systems.
• Experience in multidisciplinary engineering teams, defense technology, or technology startups.
